Carnival weekends
in Dubbo.
Book direct and you get early check-in from 1pm and late check-out until 11am, subject to availability — which on a carnival weekend is the difference between changing in the car and changing in a room. Every room has a kitchenette (sink, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle) for the 6am start, and Good Brew is directly across the road and opens early seven days. One thing to know before you book: no room here sleeps more than three, and we have no rollaway beds or cots, so a family of four books two rooms.
Dubbo hosts state and regional junior carnivals across rugby league, netball, touch, hockey, cricket and school sport from March to October — often the biggest accommodation drivers outside holiday periods. Bluegum's room mix (twins that sleep three, family-friendly singles, kitchenettes for early-start mornings) and the saltwater pool make it a natural carnival weekend base.
Why Bluegum works for sporting weekends
- Kitchenette every room. Early-start breakfast at the room rather than waiting for cafés to open. Late-game dinner reheats. Sandwich-and-fruit packing for the sideline.
- Saltwater pool. For tired legs between fixtures and the post-grand-final decompression.
- Laundry service. Hand over a bag of uniforms and towels between game days for our wash, dry and fold service, Monday to Saturday.
- Reception freezer. Drop your esky ice bricks at reception to refreeze overnight for the next day’s sideline.
- Free undercover parking on site. CCTV monitored. Spaces for everyone in the family group.
- Family-friendly room mix. Twins sleep three; Premier King Studio more spacious. Three is the maximum per room.
- Quiet rooms. Set back from the highway — recovery sleep between games matters when the team has a 7 am start the next day.
Booking lead times — honest guidance
- State titles + state-level rep weekends: family-room sizes usually gone 6–12 weeks out. Single rooms last a little longer.
- Regional carnivals + association fixtures: typically bookable 3–6 weeks ahead. Tighter if your dates clash with school holidays.
- Anything during the Dubbo Show week (May): book early irrespective of the carnival.
- Anything September/October: school holidays + zoo families + spring carnivals overlap. Book early.
